Salt Lake City Roofing
Roofing Services in Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake’s got a little bit of everything when it comes to roofs. You’ve got hundred-year-old homes up in the Avenues with original slate that’s somehow still hanging on. Sugar House bungalows with three layers of shingles that should’ve been torn off a decade ago. New builds in the west side neighborhoods. Commercial flat roofs downtown. Every job’s different, and that’s what we like about working here.
The weather doesn’t make it easy either. Winter inversions trap moisture in the valley for weeks. Freeze-thaw cycles crack flashings and pop shingle tabs. Wind comes off the lake and peels back anything that wasn’t fastened right. And in summer, the UV at this altitude bakes asphalt shingles faster than people expect.
Cardinal Roofing works across SLC and the surrounding neighborhoods — Murray, Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, Holladay, all of it. We know the housing stock, we know the weather patterns, and we know what holds up in this valley.
The Avenues and Federal Heights neighborhoods present some of the most interesting roofing challenges in the state. Many of these homes were built between 1890 and 1940, with steep pitches, complex rooflines, dormers, and turrets that require careful attention to flashing details. We’ve worked on homes along South Temple, up on Capitol Hill, and throughout the upper Avenues where the original slate and wood shake roofs are being replaced with modern materials that respect the historic character while actually performing in today’s climate.
Head south into Sugar House, Liberty Park, and the 9th and 9th area and you’ll find mid-century homes where the biggest issue is often multiple layers of shingles stacked on top of each other. The decking underneath hasn’t been inspected in decades, and there’s no telling what you’ll find until you tear off. Down in Murray, Midvale, and the southern suburbs, the housing stock from the 1980s through 2000s is hitting peak replacement age. And on the west side — Rose Park, Glendale, West Valley — affordable housing stock needs quality roofing work from contractors who aren’t going to cut corners.

Why Salt Lake Homeowners Trust Us
We’ve been at this a long time. Over two decades of combined experience roofing along the Wasatch Front means we’ve seen what every kind of Salt Lake weather does to every kind of roof. That old craftsman in the Avenues needs a different approach than a spec home in Daybreak. We don’t do one-size-fits-all.
What we do is show up, look at your actual roof, and tell you what it needs. Not what makes us the most money — what it actually needs. Sometimes that’s a repair. Sometimes it’s a full tear-off. Either way, you’ll get a straight answer and a fair price.
We’re local. We live here. When a big spring storm rolls through and half the valley needs roof repairs, we’re not flying in from out of state — we’re already here, and you’re not waiting six weeks for someone to show up.
